Worth the wait: Aspen finds her forever home

After nearly two months of waiting, Aspen found her forever home, with her own bed, toys and, most importantly, a family who loves her.

It was a special reunion for Aspen and her new mom Winona Wickham when they saw each other again on Sunday, May 10 at the San Antonio Humane Society. Not only did they get to spend their first Mother’s Day together, but they also celebrated making the adoption official!

Winona Wickham first met Aspen on the day before we had to close our doors to the public due to COVID-19 and was not able to complete the adoption process. She recalled having an instant connection with her and was worried she would not be able to adopt her.

When she learned about our "no contact" adoption process, she immediately resubmitted her application and couldn’t believe it when she got the call for the appointment.

“I was so excited and happy because the long wait was over,” Wickham said. “I thought, ‘Oh wow, it’s actually happening,’ it was a really great feeling.”

Aspen is now enjoying her new family and has already made a new friend.

“We have an outdoor cat, and she’s so friendly with him and tries to play with him,” Wickham added. “It’s been amazing, she loves the family, and we’re just happy she’s home.”

Because of YOU, Aspen received the love and care she needed during this time of crisis and has now found a loving family.
