June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month, and the San AntonioHumane Society (SAHS) is a great place to adopt your new best friend! With kitten season upon us, there are more kittens and cats in need of a forever home.
There are plenty of reasons to adopt a cat. Here are just a few:
-Cats are good for
the heart. Multiple studies have proven that cats can help reduce stress
and anxiety, which ultimately, reduces your risk of cardiovascular disease.
-You pay less.
Adopting at the SAHS costs much less than purchasing a pet from a store once
you add in the extra costs included in the adoption fee, such as vaccinations,
spay/neuter surgery, microchip and complimentary wellness exam.
-You can encourage
others to adopt too. When your friends and family ask where you got your beautiful
cat, you can tell them “at the SAHS.” Your adoption may encourage others to do

Can’t adopt? You can still help and make a
difference.
Use social media to
spread the word. You can always update your status to tell your friends
about Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. You can always share our adoptable cats and
kittens on all your social media accounts and encourage them to save a life. Don't forget to follow us @SAhumane!
Become a foster
parent. By fostering a kitten or a cat, you give love and nurture to a cat
or kitten who is waiting to find its forever family. It also allows the pets to
get used to a home environment and reduce crowding at the shelter. We are now
working with our current foster list, but we will surely need more foster
parents soon. You can sign up here.
Make a donation. Your
generous contribution will help us provide food, shelter, care, veterinary
